Empty church buildings at night are terrifying.

As I type this, I’m sitting in the balcony of the church I attend. The only light in the room is my computer monitor, and I’m scared.

Once, when I was in college, I work for a church that had a four story education building. each floor had a ring of classrooms on the outside, a hallway, and then four classrooms in the center. The exterior classrooms had adjoining doors, and the interior classrooms had adjoining doors. When we held late night events, I had to walk the building and turn off all the lights. One night, I finished walking the building and went to my car. When I looked back at the building, there was the silhouette of a man standing in the dark looking down at me from a fourth floor window. I did not go back in the building. I called the police.

Something just went bang in the empty room I’m sitting in.

I’m going home now.
